SUPPORT OPERATION CARESHARE
A New England Native, born and raised in Bridgeport, CT; founder of the Local Area Network Connection Incorporated. She is an Associate in Computer Information Science and considers herself a public health advocate. Throughout her experiences, she learned to be resilient and face challenges head-on. The disparity in the black community was the driving force behind her creating Operation Care share because she experienced hardships first hand and works to connect much needed resources to people who have been traditionally marginalized, underserved, and often under-represented; in hopes to address socio-economic differences and develop the next generation of poverty reduction initiatives.
Jay Carlton Shaw III graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts degree in human development and families. He served eight years in the military, as a culinary arts specialist serving, procuring, and maintaining stores on a U.S. Naval Vessel for 4 years. Afterwards maintaining, repairing, and supplying the barracks on the U.S. Submarine Base in New London, CT. He is deeply grounded in human service and hopes to aid families and communities in recovering their identity and developing a connection to the land, as well as; secure resources for persons throughout all levels of life to establish common welfare for the residents within the community. Working with LAN as Social and Human Service director in the Greater Hartford Area has allowed Jay to connect with local people and provide in-kind donations, and non-perishable food items to local shelters.
After being raised in Saudi Arabia, Safa followed in the footsteps of her parents to attend the most prestigious medical college in Sudan, the University of Khartoum. Then moved back to Saudi Arabia to work as an intern as a house staff doctor in the department of internal medicine for four years at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group, one of the largest tertiary hospitals in the Kingdom. To further her knowledge in research, she moved to Baltimore to join John Hopkins as a research assistant. From Baltimore, went to Texas to continue her passion for research. Moving to the US has reaffirmed her dream as a medical student in Sudan to become a board-certified physician in the US. Working with the HAFA program, she has combined the love for medicine with her passion for research and hunger for freedom of expression.
Bernard Wooden-Lofton aka "Infanit Percent" was born in a small city named Albany, Georgia. He is the eldest brother on both sides of the family out of a total of 12 siblings altogether. He is a music artist under the alias of "P.HUNDRED" which means a Hundred Percent. He has also written two books under the name Infanit Percent. He graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta with a BA in Interactive Media and Web design. Bernard has been working hard on the front lines and networking with righteous individuals in order to bring about a change in his community. He describes how the POPS Movement positively affected the brothers and sisters in that organization which inspired him to create Visionary Leaders as a means to bring about a positive change within his community. In spite of tragedy he has experienced in life, Infanit looks forward to his role working with LAN in a way to activate residents locally for the purpose of more inclusive civic and social change.
